About our Mayor Katy Miller -

Katy has been involved with politics since she was a teenager.  Attending Dos Palos City Council meetings was a regular occurance through her high school years.  This involvement led her to also be involved in college with the 1992 and 1996 presidential elections.  She moved back to Dos Palos in 2015 and her interest in local government was rejuvenated.  According to Katy, Dos Palos has been a pleasure to return to and raise her children.  Now that her  youngest daughter is a senior in high school she decided it was the right time to pursue the office of Mayor for the City of Dos Palos.

“In my opinion, the best thing about living in Dos Palos is the safety of a small community.  I feel totally safe in my home, on my street, at my school, patronizing businesses, attending events and sports, and in the community at large.  We are very much a large family in Dos Palos.  It is no secret that Dos Palos embraces the 6 degrees of separation idea that we are all six or fewer social connections away from one another.  This unique chain of connection is often utilized in our community to support one another in good times and bad. my motto is #lovewhereyoulive.”

Professional Background: Campaign member for the 1992 and 1996 presidential campaigns, published author, former Safe Environment Coordinator for the diocese of San Jose and Diocese of Fresno, creator Katy the Safety Lady (child/teen safety books and curriculum)

Education: St. Joseph's School (class of '88) and Dos Palos High School (class of '92).  Iowa State University for undergraduate BA in athletics, communication, and natural sciences.  Fresno Pacific University education credential program.

Current Occupation:  Teacher in Charge at Westside High School (George Christian Education Center)

City Council meets at 6:00 pm on the third Tuesday of each month in the City Council Chambers of the City-County Building, 1554 Golden Gate Avenue, Dos Palos.
